Makeup For Beginners.. Basics for applying e/s

April 10, 2010

Hello beautifuls,

A friend came to me after seeing one of my videos and said she had all this makeup but didn’t know what to do with it. I will not see good makeup go to waste so I decided to make a video tutorial on the basics for very beginners because I know she’s not the only lost person out there. I’m sure every girl has a love for makeup deep down and side but they don’t know how to portray it. That’s what this video is for. I explain placement and the reasons for the certain techniques. I really hope this video will help people please rate, comment and subscribe and tell me what you think and if it helped you. Also post a video response to show me the results after you followed the steps I told you. Below I will post the products I used and the step by step guide I followed in the video.

EYES

E.L.F eye lid primer

Maybelline Quad STYLISH SMOKES

NYC black eyeliner

Maybelline Colossal

NYX e/s BLACK

First, apply primer. It prevents creasing, running, acts as a base for shadow to stick to, and allows the true color of e/s to show. (Urban Decay Primer Potion, Two Faced Shadow Insurance, MAC Paint Pots, LoReal Decrease, E.L.F eyelid primer)

Second, apply lightest shade to areas you want to highlight. The brow bone, to life the eyes and the inner corners of the eye to allow more light in causing the eyes to look open and bright.

Third, apply the second lightest color to the lid. People with small lids should use a light colored shimmery e/s this will draw attention making it look larger.

Fourth, apply the second darkest color to the crease. The crease is the place right under the socket bone. Try to use matte color in the crease because you want to create a shadow not attract.

Fifth, apply the darkest shade to the outer corner. The outer corner is the area from the upper lash line to the crease on the outer third of your eye. Make a sideways “V” or less than sign (<).

Sixth,  BLEND BLEND BLEND. It’s the most important part of makeup. Use a clean blending brush and go over any harsh lines in a wind-shield wiper motion until your makeup is a gradient transition to one shade to the next.

Seventh, use eyeliner. Start from the outer corner and move in making your line go from thick to thin. This will create the illusion of a wider more defined eye.

Eighth, curl lashes and apply mascara. Squeeze the eye lash curler for 30 seconds, let go, and do it again. Start at the root of the lash, wiggle the wand as you move up.

TIP: wiping off you wand before you apply mascara will prevent clumping.

WHENEVER DOING ANY TYPE OF LOOK WITH ANY TYPE OF MAKEUP REMEMBER THE BASIC STEPS AND THE REASONS WHY WE DO THESE STEPS. I HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL, UNTIL NEXT TIME,

Kissez

Miss Jazzy, I am so glad you are taking out love of makeup to the next level! Your video was clear and easy to follow-I watched the beginner basics. Only point I have is when setting your eyeliner, it is easier to do it before you apply mascara. Great job! I will be watching!
