Hello beautifuls,

Today I want to talk about something that has nothing to do with make-up; however,  it does have something to do with beauty. I came across a video on Youtube and it happened to be a commercial for Lane Bryant that was banned. The commercial advertises their new bra and pantie line. It features beautiful plus size model Ashley Graham in her underwear and bra. It was very tasteful and was nothing more than what the Victoria Secret’s commercials are. So why was it banned? It was supposed to be shown during the Dancing with the Stars show but executives said it was “too sexy” and “showed too much skin.” I totally disagree with those comments. In the Victoria’s Secret commercials, the models flaunt around in their bras and underwear all the time and the commercials are aired on television with no question. That shows the true prejudice of our society. Most women in America are beautiful plus size women just like Ashley. She speaks on the issue and says that is made her “feel sad” and “many women are size 12, 14, 16 and want to see themselves on t.v. in bra and panties.” I guess they finally aired the commercial in the last 10 minutes of the show but it never should have been an issue anyways. This controversy sheds light on the horrible truth of double standards in our society. I hope in the future these executives will consider that people are different but we all are beautiful no matter size or shape and this shouldn’t be an issue ever again.

Hello beautifuls,

In case you didn’t read the previous post, I found a place online where you can get discounted NYX Round Lipsticks. For those who aren’t really into wearing lipsticks, I also found a place to get discounted NYX Round Lip Glosses. Be careful with these Lip Glosses because they are extremely pigmented and some shades look like lipstick once you put them on. NYX Round Lip Glosses aren’t on the NYX website but in stores they are about $2 each. On this website the seller is offering a wonderful deal; 6 NYX Round Lip Glosses for $9.99 (not including $3.32 S&H). After doing the math, that equaled about  $1.66 each (a very good deal!). Click here to order these amazing discounted lip glosses! I hope this helps, until next time..

Hello beautifuls,

I was searching for more products to include in my kit and I realized that I need more lip products (lipsticks, lip pencils, gloss). I browsed the internet for hours trying to find the best deals and I came across this excited deal. 12 NYX Round Lipsticks for $17.99 (not including $4.09 S&H). For those who are unfamiliar with NYX lipsticks, it is a very affordable drugstore lipstick that is great in quality. NYX products in general are always very pigmented and long lasting. It sounded amazing when I first seen it but I wanted to make sure I was getting a deal. I visited the NYX website and seen that the prices for Round Lipsticks were $4 each. Now when I divide $17.99 by 12 lipsticks it equals about $1.50 for each lipstick; NOW THAT’S A DEAL. A little over %60 off the regular price!! I couldn’t pass this deal up so as soon as I decide what 12 shades I want, I’ll order them. I wanted to let you all know before hand so you could possibly tell me what shades you like best. There are 144 shades to choose from so make wise choices!  Click here to see where I found this deal! I hope this helps, until next time..

Hello beautifuls,

I’ve been doing research on foundations to see which one would be best for my kit. I’m just starting out, as you know, so I can’t just go out and buy 5 different shades of MAC or NARS. I’ve been looking at good quality drugstore brand foundations. Honestly I believe that some drugstore foundations are better than the high-end cosmetic lines. You really have to do research and try things out for yourself because sometimes with high-end companies, even though they have great quality, you are really paying for the brand name. I was thinking about two in particular, Revlon Color Stay Liquid Foundation and Black Opal Creme Stick Foundation. Both brands can be found in drugstores, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. The Revlon foundation is about $13 and the Black Opal is about $9. Even though the Black Opal was a few dollars cheaper, Revlon gave a much wider variety of shades and skin types. Black Opal only has 7 shades. So while I was debating of those two brands, I was in a fashion show at school and the make-up artist who worked on us, Monnica Johnson, used Cover Girl Queen Foundation Compacts. The way she applied it to our faces was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. She used three shades because no ones face is the same shades all the way around so it made sense. I liked the way the foundation looked, the only complaint is that it was a bit too yellow. After that, I started looking into the CG Queen Foundation Compacts and those were also about $9 also and ranged in a 12 shades. By this point Revlon Color Stay is looking like the best option but I wasn’t quite ready to spend $13 dollars each so I kept looking around. A make-up artist from my area (Hampton Roads), named Nita J told me that she uses Black Opal Stick and she also said that celebrity make-up artist (to celebs like Iman, Tyra Banks, Vanessa Williams) Sam Fine uses Black Opal Sticks too! After hearing that, I knew that B.O. was the brand for me. I began my search to find where I could get them for cheap. I happened to be on YouTube watching colouredbeautiful’s review on B.O. Sticks and she gave this website www.ebonyline.com. I checked out the website and I was so happy when I seen that the Sticks were only a little over $7 each and was even more happier when I seen you could buy 3 for $22! So I ordered 3 Truly Topaz, Beautiful Bronze(my shade) and Hazelnut. While looking for foundations to use, in the back of my mind I was still debating on Which concealer to use. I remember hearing that Black Opal Flawless Perfecting Concealer was great so I check to see if ebonyline.com had those on sale also; they did! It was buy 3 for $12 so that’s exactly what I did. I bought Honey, Toast and Tan. I spend a total of $41 for 3 foundations and 3 concealers and I must say that it was very well worth it. I used it on myself and I loved it. It is so creamy and easy to blend. The concealer concealed my dark circles and made my skin look flawless. Sine I am Beautiful Bronze, I used Tan concealer. It was very light, and it lasted all day without powder. My skin is pretty neutral when it comes to being oily or dry. It seems that if you have really oily skin then this foundation could get a little greasy but if you use a mattifier or a primer on your face before, then you shouldn’t have a problem. I plan to order the rest of the shades sometime this week. My mother is a little lighter than me so I thought the shade lighter than my shade, which is Truly Topaz would fit her perfect but it was a little too light so I had to blend both Truly Topaz and Beautiful Bronze and it looked great. These foundations blend so well. When my clientele expands and I start getting people from other races, I will have to use another brand since B.O. only caters to darker skinned woman. I’ll probably use Revlon Color Stay or Cover Girl Compacts. I will be doing a video review on these foundations and concealers as soon as I get back to school. I will also have more prom and spring looks to finish off the series. I’m in another fashion show this weekend and I’m so excited to meet another make-up artist and hopefully learn some new techniques and build my network. below I will put the link to where I got those products from, I will also put a list of some skin primers and mattifiers for all you with oily skin.

Hello beautifuls,

It’s prom season and its right around the corner. I decided to do a series of prom looks for girls who are unsure of what they want to pull off. These videos are going to give you an idea for what type of make-up to go with your dress. This first look is subtle but very gorgeous and very easy! Keep in mind that you will be taking a lot of pictures throughout the night so you want to make sure you use a foundation with a low SPF so you won’t look like a ghost and have that halo around your face. A list products I used and the actual video are below. Also, there are some pictures of dresses I would wear with this look just to give you more of a guide but feel free to do this look with any type of dress.

This look would be great with these types of dresses;
