Hello beautifuls,

I’ve been doing research on foundations to see which one would be best for my kit. I’m just starting out, as you know, so I can’t just go out and buy 5 different shades of MAC or NARS. I’ve been looking at good quality drugstore brand foundations. Honestly I believe that some drugstore foundations are better than the high-end cosmetic lines. You really have to do research and try things out for yourself because sometimes with high-end companies, even though they have great quality, you are really paying for the brand name. I was thinking about two in particular, Revlon Color Stay Liquid Foundation and Black Opal Creme Stick Foundation. Both brands can be found in drugstores, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. The Revlon foundation is about $13 and the Black Opal is about $9. Even though the Black Opal was a few dollars cheaper, Revlon gave a much wider variety of shades and skin types. Black Opal only has 7 shades. So while I was debating of those two brands, I was in a fashion show at school and the make-up artist who worked on us, Monnica Johnson, used Cover Girl Queen Foundation Compacts. The way she applied it to our faces was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. She used three shades because no ones face is the same shades all the way around so it made sense. I liked the way the foundation looked, the only complaint is that it was a bit too yellow. After that, I started looking into the CG Queen Foundation Compacts and those were also about $9 also and ranged in a 12 shades. By this point Revlon Color Stay is looking like the best option but I wasn’t quite ready to spend $13 dollars each so I kept looking around. A make-up artist from my area (Hampton Roads), named Nita J told me that she uses Black Opal Stick and she also said that celebrity make-up artist (to celebs like Iman, Tyra Banks, Vanessa Williams) Sam Fine uses Black Opal Sticks too! After hearing that, I knew that B.O. was the brand for me. I began my search to find where I could get them for cheap. I happened to be on YouTube watching colouredbeautiful’s review on B.O. Sticks and she gave this website www.ebonyline.com. I checked out the website and I was so happy when I seen that the Sticks were only a little over $7 each and was even more happier when I seen you could buy 3 for $22! So I ordered 3 Truly Topaz, Beautiful Bronze(my shade) and Hazelnut. While looking for foundations to use, in the back of my mind I was still debating on Which concealer to use. I remember hearing that Black Opal Flawless Perfecting Concealer was great so I check to see if ebonyline.com had those on sale also; they did! It was buy 3 for $12 so that’s exactly what I did. I bought Honey, Toast and Tan. I spend a total of $41 for 3 foundations and 3 concealers and I must say that it was very well worth it. I used it on myself and I loved it. It is so creamy and easy to blend. The concealer concealed my dark circles and made my skin look flawless. Sine I am Beautiful Bronze, I used Tan concealer. It was very light, and it lasted all day without powder. My skin is pretty neutral when it comes to being oily or dry. It seems that if you have really oily skin then this foundation could get a little greasy but if you use a mattifier or a primer on your face before, then you shouldn’t have a problem. I plan to order the rest of the shades sometime this week. My mother is a little lighter than me so I thought the shade lighter than my shade, which is Truly Topaz would fit her perfect but it was a little too light so I had to blend both Truly Topaz and Beautiful Bronze and it looked great. These foundations blend so well. When my clientele expands and I start getting people from other races, I will have to use another brand since B.O. only caters to darker skinned woman. I’ll probably use Revlon Color Stay or Cover Girl Compacts. I will be doing a video review on these foundations and concealers as soon as I get back to school. I will also have more prom and spring looks to finish off the series. I’m in another fashion show this weekend and I’m so excited to meet another make-up artist and hopefully learn some new techniques and build my network. below I will put the link to where I got those products from, I will also put a list of some skin primers and mattifiers for all you with oily skin.
