The Website Is Here!!

April 15, 2010

Hello beautifuls,

Remember I said I was working on my website? Well, IT’S HERE! www.jnhinesmu.webs.com still has work to be done and I will be adding more stuff to it as I can but for now, it is presentable enough for you all to see. I’m publishing the website early partly because I want your opinion on things I can add to make it better. You all know I’m just starting in the makeup business so I don’t have much right now to include in it but if you have any suggestions please let me know in either the comment section below, or send me an e-mail to jnhinesmu@gmail.com. I hope you like it!

Here’s the link again, www.jnhinesmu.webs.com Enjoy.

Until next time,

Hello beautifuls,

It’s prom season and its right around the corner. I decided to do a series of prom looks for girls who are unsure of what they want to pull off. These videos are going to give you an idea for what type of make-up to go with your dress. This first look is subtle but very gorgeous and very easy! Keep in mind that you will be taking a lot of pictures throughout the night so you want to make sure you use a foundation with a low SPF so you won’t look like a ghost and have that halo around your face. A list products I used and the actual video are below. Also, there are some pictures of dresses I would wear with this look just to give you more of a guide but feel free to do this look with any type of dress.

This look would be great with these types of dresses;

Here’s a list of products used;

Hello beautifuls,

A friend came to me after seeing one of my videos and said she had all this makeup but didn’t know what to do with it. I will not see good makeup go to waste so I decided to make a video tutorial on the basics for very beginners because I know she’s not the only lost person out there. I’m sure every girl has a love for makeup deep down and side but they don’t know how to portray it. That’s what this video is for. I explain placement and the reasons for the certain techniques. I really hope this video will help people please rate, comment and subscribe and tell me what you think and if it helped you. Also post a video response to show me the results after you followed the steps I told you. Below I will post the products I used and the step by step guide I followed in the video.

EYES

E.L.F eye lid primer

Maybelline Quad STYLISH SMOKES

NYC black eyeliner

Maybelline Colossal

NYX e/s BLACK

First, apply primer. It prevents creasing, running, acts as a base for shadow to stick to, and allows the true color of e/s to show. (Urban Decay Primer Potion, Two Faced Shadow Insurance, MAC Paint Pots, LoReal Decrease, E.L.F eyelid primer)

Second, apply lightest shade to areas you want to highlight. The brow bone, to life the eyes and the inner corners of the eye to allow more light in causing the eyes to look open and bright.

Third, apply the second lightest color to the lid. People with small lids should use a light colored shimmery e/s this will draw attention making it look larger.

Fourth, apply the second darkest color to the crease. The crease is the place right under the socket bone. Try to use matte color in the crease because you want to create a shadow not attract.

Fifth, apply the darkest shade to the outer corner. The outer corner is the area from the upper lash line to the crease on the outer third of your eye. Make a sideways “V” or less than sign (<).

Sixth,  BLEND BLEND BLEND. It’s the most important part of makeup. Use a clean blending brush and go over any harsh lines in a wind-shield wiper motion until your makeup is a gradient transition to one shade to the next.

Seventh, use eyeliner. Start from the outer corner and move in making your line go from thick to thin. This will create the illusion of a wider more defined eye.

Eighth, curl lashes and apply mascara. Squeeze the eye lash curler for 30 seconds, let go, and do it again. Start at the root of the lash, wiggle the wand as you move up.

TIP: wiping off you wand before you apply mascara will prevent clumping.

WHENEVER DOING ANY TYPE OF LOOK WITH ANY TYPE OF MAKEUP REMEMBER THE BASIC STEPS AND THE REASONS WHY WE DO THESE STEPS. I HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL, UNTIL NEXT TIME,

Kissez

Hello beautifuls,

So I finally made another tutorial. YAY! It is the start of my Spring Series; which will probably consist of about 5 videos. This look was inspired by yellow tulips I saw next a small pond. If you own a 120 palette then you know there are so many colors to play with and that’s why I wanted to do a series of spring inspired looks. This look is very easy and very pretty. I wore this out during the day (I’m brave enough to wear colorful make-up during the day) and I just blended in so well with the scenery outside. I absolutely love green e/s and pink-ish lips so that’s why I used a bright lip instead of a nude, but feel free to do a nude lip instead. I encourage everyone to get a 120 palette and start playing with the colors. Pictures, products and the tutorial will be below; keep a look out for the rest of the videos in this series, all of them should be up in a week.

EYES

NYX Jumbo e/s pencil MILK

120 color palette

Ulta Mineral Eye Liner SAPPHIRE

NYC Black Eyeliner

Maybelline Colossal mascara

CHEEKS

NYX blush DESSERT ROSE

LIPS

NYC Lipstick BLOSSOM

NYX Lip gloss APRICOT

until next time,

Hello beautifuls,

I just want to inform you all of your local beauty supply stores. You will find some great inexpensive products for even cheaper than they usually are. NYX for example is a brand that is greatly respected for its great quality and price. It is very inexpensive but when you get it from a beauty supply store, it’s even cheaper. You may get lucky and find an even more variety of good brands. NK and Nicka Cosmetics are great brands also and their products are usually $1 each. So before you head to Sephora or even the drug store, check out your local beauty supply store. If you don’t know where one is at, google search beauty supply store and your zip code and you’ll find one. I hope this helps!

Juice Beauty

April 2, 2010

Hello beautifuls,

I just wanted to let you guys know that I ordered some products from Juice Beauty. I got them in the mail today. I ordered them from http://www.hautelook.com while they were on sale. Unfortunately, the products aren’t available on Hautelook anymore but you can go to http://www.juicebeauty.com and order them. I got the Cleansing Gel and the Blemish Clearing Serum. I will start using them tonight and after a few weeks I will let you know how I like them. I heard of Juice Beauty on YT a while ago and just recently Erin from scandlousbeauty introduced me to hautelook where I was reminded about it. I’m excited to try it and I pray it works well. Anyways, I think I will do a tutorial tonight so go check out my YT channel ( http://www.youtube.com/jnhinesMU ). Until next time..
